Purse Shopping: Mulberry Alice Zippered Tote

Shopping for purses is one of my favorite and therapeutic moments.  I always enjoy shopping for bags, because it's daily essential item that I can't leave the house with. Originally I wanted the Kate Spade Cedar Maise Bag in Navy color, but decided to get something better for myself.  Even though I don't own a lot of high end bags, I certainly enjoy something simple and durable ones.  This is my first biggest purchase that I ever brought and I was contemplating on the color whether it was right for me or not.  I decided to take the plunge on getting it because it was on sale.  I want something fun and I do love the color rose petal.  I recently purchased the Mulberry Alice Zippered Tote, because I know that this England brand sell high quality leather and secondly it is not too flashy with their logos.  I'm pretty happy with my purchase and have used this in several occasions.

Here's my thoughts on this bag:

  • The color of this bag is stunning.
  • I love the gold metal edge detailing.
  • The leather is beautiful and great craftsmanship.
  • Has this rich leather smell
  • I have to say that this bag is a bit small.
  • I highly recommend not to over stuff it, otherwise your items + this bag can be overwhelmingly heavy.

In-depth details of the bag:

This tote can be carried in the crook of your arm or as a shoulder bag with the detachable strap.
  • Mulberry soft gold components
  • Two rounded top handles with metal edge detailing
  • External Mulberry Tree metal stud
  • Hanging leather fob with split ring
  • Leather shoulder strap
  • Zip closure with two zip pulls
  • Microfiber lined interior
  • Two internal slip pockets
  • One internal zip pocket
  • Internal leather Mulberry plaque with metal hanging fob

Width: 14¾"
Depth: 6¼"

What kind of bag do you tend to look for?

My Race/Jogging Tips

Over the years I have initiated to living a healthier life style and also taking apart of doing running races helps me to stay in shape.  I have joined NYRR - New York Road Runner over few years by participating certain races that helps a cause.  My last race was NYRR God's Love We Deliver and if anyone wants to start jogging I would like to provide some tips for you before your race.

Here are some tips:
  1. Dressing gear is essential part of the race and there are certain mishaves that I have over dressed certain time for the race causing me to delay with my race time.  Before the day of your race, check the weather forecast and decide what to wear.  After a mile or 2 you'll start getting hot, normally on a typical November fall weather I would wear a long sleeve over a t-shirt,  a vest and a tight pants.  I rarely would invest in brand name racing gears because the cost can add up.  Anything is comfortable is fine to run in.
  2. Before the race start I advice that you should go to the bathroom before racing.  Going to bathroom midway of the race can delay your time.  I'm not critical on tracking my time, but if you decided to track your time then it's best to do your business beforehand
  3. I normally bring Kleenex Tissue, because when the weather gets a little cold my nose will drip a bit. So having tissue comes in handy.
  4. Please eat breakfast before hand, otherwise it'll be hard to run on an empty stomach.  I normally would have a bowl of cereal, but bananas is great before a race.
  5. Do the best you can and try not to outrun yourself with others.  I see some people will try to outrun each other and injuring themselves, especially when you don't normally don't train.  Your health is more critical than the race time.
  6. Try to do some stretches before the race starts, there are times I have gotten cramps in my leg because I didn't stretch before the race starts.
  7. Listening to music on your ipod or phone makes the race easier.
  8. Tracking your race, I use MapMyRun app to give me an idea how fast I'm pacing.

Is there any other tips that you normally do before your race starts?  Please do share below on the comment section.

Smorgasburg: Brooklyn

Hi,  I just want to inform you; my readers that I added a Food Review Label.  I want to expand more horizon than posting makeup reviews.  I want to share of my daily life expedition adventures.  I will be popping in to do more food reviews in New York City.  My husband and I are avid foodie and loves to explore different places to eat around New York City.  I will share a glimpse of review of certain things I order and review it here.

Finally the outdoor Smorgasburg Brooklyn has opened, unfortunately the weather didn't helped at all while trying new vendors.  With much hypes and anticipation majority of the people flocked over the Raindrop Cake that looks like a dew drop.  It's actually a Japanese dessert that made from water and drizzle of brown sugar syrup and a dusting of kinako, or roasted soybean flour.  My first impression, I personally think it's tasteless and tasted like water.  I guess it's probably me that I can't enjoy the art of this dessert and for $8 bucks it's wasn't worth the hype.  At least I tried and it'll be my last time.

Wowfulls - Chocolate Egg Waffle with Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream with Banana Pocky

I can never say no to Wowfulls, this is my all time favorite vendor.  This vendor started out at industry city Smorgasburg and finally this is their first time outdoor appearance. I grew up eating Hong Kong egg waffles when I was a kid and topping it off with ice cream and pocky sticks certainly makes me feel like a kid again.  Below are some of other types of food I ordered and I highly recommend that you should check this place out.  It's a nice fun outdoor experience with family and friends.  I'm hoping the weather will get better eventually and it'll be a nice picnic outing.

Now Open Every Saturday • Saturday 11am-6pm • All Food • 100 Vendors
East River State Park (90 Kent Ave at N. 7 St.)

The Face Shop BB Cushion Review

I recently brought The Face Shop BB cushion, because it came with a free refillable cushion.  The Face Shop is a South Korean brand that sells skincare and cosmetic products .  I really like the bb cushion because it's compact and easy to travel with whenever I'm on the go.  After a few usage I really like that this has a heavier and moisting coverage than the Lancome Miracle Cushion. This BB cushion has heavier and hydration property coverage that last throughout the day.  Also I realized that there are several compacts that gear to your needs.  The one that I purchase is oil-control with moisturing benefits at the same time. Secondly,  I brought this BB cushion because it was cheaper than the Lancome.  I can't justify in paying $39.00 Lacome refillable within my budget.  These days I'm more conscious of buying my makeups within budget range.

About the Face Shop BB Cushion:
  • Moist-cover effect promotes a healthy look while covering up imperfections and pigmentation
  • Sunburn control formula helps keep makeup shine-free
  • Sweat proof effect keeps makeup in perfect condition for hours
  • New Microfoam keeps makeup feel as fresh as when it first applied
  • This BB cushion has a good coverage and not too heavy.
  • Provides hydration when it is applied
  • Has SPF 50+ PA+++
  • Provides coverage lasting almost the whole day without retouching.
  • Light fragance sents that isn't overpowering.
I got this at The Face Shop in New York store, this BB Cushion is retailing for $32.00 and refills are $18.00.

Have you tried the BB cushion compact yet?  What do you think of it?

Disclosure:  I'm not affiliated with this company, this item that was listed was purchased on my own.

Missing: Long Hair

These are some of my previous photos over the years that I took while having long hair.  I'm currently missing my long hair. I used to have long luscious dark and  thick hair.  I miss that I can't curl or style the way I want to.  With short hair there's not much I can do at this point.  The main reason why I chopped my hair was because it was easy to manage.  I don't have a lot of time to style my hair with a screaming baby on the loose these days.  Here is my current short hair, kinda of bum that I had to go this route.

Hopefully my short hair will grow on me and eventually I will start enjoying it more.  Having long hair can be a disadvantage at times because it takes a long time for me to dry my hair.  I guess a new change isn't so bad either.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog, and have a wonderful day!

Tips: On Losing Weight

It's uncanny looking at back some old photos, I never knew that I was overweight when I was in my late 20's.  I was always constantly in denial and always eating a huge portion when I could have substituted for smaller portions.  Also, I always had huge sweet cravings that made it even harder to lose the weight. My will power of dieting was extremely hard because of my busy schedule with work and going to school at the same time.  I never had the time to incorporate to join a gym and to exercise on a daily basis. I hope I can provide you some tips on how I lost my weight by cutting off some of the things that made me gain weight.
  • Soda - I used to love drinking Sodas; drinking sodas can really pack on the extra weight.  Instead of Sodas substitute with seltzer water, tea or water.
  • Carbs - I tried to cut down on my carbs intake and substitute with vegetables.  I recently purchased a Paderno Spiralizer 4-Blade and used Zucchini as the pasta base instead.
  • Exercising - I decided to join a gym and joined a couple of races.  That really helped me to lose the extra pounds.
  • Moderation on food that you intake: I cut out a lot of sweets such as: cakes, cookies, pies etc - substitute with peanuts, walnuts, almond or pistachio for snacks.  If you still like sweets incorporate with fruits instead.
  • Determination - Trust me it wasn't easy for me to lose weight as well, it took me a long time to really lose the weight that I am now.  I always made a new year resolution that I will lose weight but it wasn't helping even if I ate smaller portion or skipping meals. I didn't lose the weight up until I really started to exercise.  Exercising and watching what you eat is really important, but overall don't over work yourself.  Your health is really important and listen to your body, take it easy.  I did it by doing baby steps.  I wasn't aiming for faster result in losing weight, it's matter of time and patience.
Also having a buddy system can make dieting or exercising fun.  I have a few friends who enjoy running, so I tagged a long whenever we are having a race.  I hope some of these tips helps motivate you in some ways and good luck on your dieting journey.

Cherry Blossom + Flower Blazer

After 9 years later I got an opportunity to visited Brooklyn Botanical Garden.  With so much rain and  cool weather it didn't do much for this year Cherry Blossom.  When I went there, there wasn't much Cherry Blossom in full bloom either.  I was only able to capture a few trees here and there.  I enjoyed a new stroll through the garden and able to take some family pictures.

Finally I was able to sport my flowery blazer.  I had no idea how to style it, but finally I'm glad that this blazer worked out in my flavor.  This blazer is very light and easy to wear.  At first  I was hesitating on keeping it.  I'm glad I attempted on wearing it and it's truly a keeper now.

How do you sport your blazer?

Besides the long hiatus on my blog, I finally decided to update a new layout and start fresh to give me some motivation to blog more.  I notice my previous layout has been running pretty slow and hopefully with this new layout it will certainly run faster.
